In the Theresienstadt concentration camp, camp prisoners gave the last of sixteen performances of Verdi’s Requiem on June 23, 1944, for the International Red Cross and high-ranked Nazis.

75 years of freedom

This concert drama presents the story behind this courageous act. On the occasion of the celebration of 75 years of freedom, this unique performance came to the Netherlands for the first time. In a Dutch performance with Dutch actors, the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, The Netherlands Concert Choir and 4 soloists. The NOS broadcast the concert drama in its entirety on NPO2.

In doing so, we made the story available to all Dutch people. Now and in the future.

Due to COVID-19, the execution was moved to June 2022, 77 years after the Theresienstadt camp was transferred to the Red Cross.
